Property of Information Relay Committee Posts: 379 Group: Interactive Member #2 Joined: 6 July 2008	GUIDE ON HOW TO USE BATTLEMODE *Not that complete..but at least it could help you.Thanks to Thor Observer for inspiring me to make this guide* WHAT IS A BATTLEMODE Battlemode is a mode that allows us to use all the 3 hotkey (the F1~F9 hotkey) bars at a same time.Note that non battlemode will allow us to use maximum only 1 bar..although there are 3 bars in total but non battlemode only allows you to use ONLY ONE BAR AT ONE TIME.To change from bar to the next bar,you need to press F12 and for people that always have too many things to use and change at one time,1 bar is INDEED NOT ENOUGH.Thats why Battlemode exist,to allow us to do more things at one time. WHAT THINGS THAT USUALLY CAN BE DONE USING BATTLEMODE? Anything that is usable and equipable can be done easily with the help of Battlemode.Usable here refers to the usable items that we always consume (like SP healing items and HP healing items) and skills that we always use.While the equipable refers to the equipments,weapon,accessory,whatever items there is which can be equip to our character.Only skill icons,usable items and equipments can be put to the hotkeys.Non usable items CANNOT be put into the hotkeys.So dont try waste your time trying to put a stone/jellopy into the hotkey. WHICH SITUATION THAT REQUIRES BATTLEMODE THE MOST? Any situation that requires you to spam your healing items,change your equipment frequently,and spam your skills to no limit is the best situation to use Battlemode.For example like during WoE,PvP and MVPing..rarely ppl use Battlemode for PvMing since one hotkey should do the job when PvMing..unlike hot situation like WoE where you need to change your equipment frequently to counter enemies' strategy,spam many types of healing items (usually ppl wont bring 1 type of usable items to WoE or PvP) and spam many kinds of skills.Such situation cant be solved with just the usage of one hotkey.So Battlemode will be your best choice here. HOW TO ACTIVATE BATTLEMODE? Type /bm on your typing bar,and there you have it.To off battlemode,simply type it again.Its better if you set /bm in one of your emoticon keys. To activate Battlemode,type /bm on your typing bar Then you will get the notice that your Battlemode has been activated Note that when you're in battlemode,your typing bar will change its colour from white to purple..this indicates that you're now in BM mode. To cancel BM mode,just press "enter" button on your keyboard,and type /bm again. Then you will get a notice that your bm mode has been deactivated. Note that when you're in non battlemode,your typing bar will change its colour from purple to white..this indicates that you're now in normal mode. WHY MUST I PUT /BM KEYWORD INTO MY EMOTICON HOTKEYS?ANY REASON FOR THIS? Putting the battlemode keyword into your emoticon hotkeys is just a way to make you change from non battlemode to battlemode in a much easier way.Since you need to type /bm to activate/deactivate bm mode,so its much easier to just change it by using emoticon hotkeys.You dont need to type anything,just remember the hotkeys for your BM mode.There are other reason to this actually,but i will explain it later. For easier use of Battlemode,set your /bm keyword in the emoticon hotkeys. SO..WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPEN WHEN IM IN A BM MODE When you're in BM mode,there are several things that you should notice - You're typing bar will change its colour from white to purple. Non BM mode BM mode - In battlemode,there is 2 type of mode,which is chat mode and hotkey mode..hotkey mode is a mode where your keyboard becomes a large hotkeys.Chat mode in the other hand lets you use keyboard to chat or sending message.To change between this 2 mode,simply press "enter" and you will change your mode from Hotkey --> Chat or Chat --> Hotkey. - When you're in hotkey mode,you cannot type anything..when you press "enter",you mode will automatically change from normal mode to BM mode.In normal mode,you can freely use your computer keyboard to type anything you like,but when you're in battlemode,your keyboard now becomes a large hotkeys.So if you wish to send a message to someone while in BM mode,simply press "enter" button on your keyboard to change your mode from hotkey to chat..everytime you press "enter",it will automatically change the mode from hotkey --> chat and chat --> hotkey..this means that after you have succesfully send a message,your chat mode will return back to hotkey mode..if you wish to send another message,simply press "enter" button again. Succesfully send a message means after you type the message,you will press "enter" and the message appears on the chat windows. - In hotkey mode,bar 1 will be indicated by F1~F9,bar 2 will be indicated by Q~O and bar 3 will be indicated by A~L.Each bar is indicated by the number on the right end part of the bar.This number differentiate each bar. Bar 1* Bar 2 Bar 3 - When you try to type something on the keyboard while in hotkey mode (lets say you wanna press the alphabet SER),the alphabet you wish to type wont appear on the typing bar,instead the mode will detect what things you put on S,E and R button and use it,even if you dont mean to use it anyway.That is why i recommend you to put /bm hotkey in the emoticon hotkeys..sometimes ppl can forget that they're actually in hotkey mode,and just typing out the words they wish to type without thinking which mode are they in now,especially those who're in a very critical situation.To prevent such mistakes from occuring again,i recommend you to off your battlemode when you wanna send a message..and the best way to do it is by putting /bm hotkey on the emoticon hotkeys..coz its easier to just press the emoticons hotkeys than pressing "enter" and type /bm again. - Note that when you're trying to type something under PMing mode (either you replying someone's pm or you wanna pm someone),every alphabet that you type will appear on the type box as 2 alphabet.Like for example if you wanna pm someone and type "please save me"..it will appear on the type box as "pplleeaassee ssaavvee mmee"..even if you have assigned those alphabet hotkey with items,under pming mode,when you pming someone and press the alphabet hotkey,those items will still stay inside the hotkey,so you no need to worry that when you press the alphabet hotkey,the item inside hotkey will be use..to prevent this,just press "Enter" and type again. This applies ONLY when you're under PMing mode - To prevent your items from dropping when dragging items to the hotkey,remember that when the box becomes green when you drag items into it,that means you can safely release your mouse button. Ensure that the box becomes green before you release the mouse buttons. This applies to non battlemode too For extra safety,open your equipment windown before dragging items to the hotkey boxCredit to Xbox - You dont need to press F12 just to change the bars..since you can use all 3 bars in one time (see point no 4) - Note that items with same sprites but different functions on it requires only 1 hotkey..so lets say like you have Raydric muffler and Deviling muffler..although it got different functions there but it still a muffler.So if you have more than 1 Muffler,as long as it is a muffler..you will only need 1 hotkey to put the muffler inside.Mostly you will need to press the muffler hotkey few times before you get the muffler with the functions that you desire. CAN I CHANGE WEAPON TOO WHEN USING BATTELMODE? Sure you can..anything equipable and unequipable can be change using Battlemode method.But note that certain class like DD sin/sinX requires a bit different techniques to get the right weapon to the right hand.Other class like Knight/Lord Knight, Crusader/Paladin, Hunter/Sniper/Dancer/Gypsy/Bard/Minstrel, Alchemist/Creator, Blacksmith/Mastersmith, Priest/High Priest, Monk/Champion, Sage/Professor, Wizard/High Wizard, Rogue doesnt need any techniques in order to get the right equipment to the right part. WHY DD SIN/SINX CLASS IS A BIT DIFFERENT THAN OTHER TYPES OF JOBS WHEN IT COMES TO CHANGING EQS? DD sin/sinX uses dual dagger style during combat..note that sin/sinX class is the only class among the other types of class/jobs in RO that can use dual hand style..sin/sinX can use 2h weapon (such as Katars),1h weapons (swords,daggers,axe) and can even wield shield on the left hand.This makes sin/sinX class perform various kind of techniques using different kinds of modes. Katar mode - for critting,SBing Dual Hand mode - for emperium breaking,SBKing Defending mode - for passing through obstacles while attacking at the same time..also for emperium breaking and SBKing. Note that changing from modes to modes is important to get us ahead during hot situation like in WoE,PvPing and MVPing.Lets say you set your equipments to be like this. This the your equipment windows..please take a note on the weapon that have been set its location in the 3rd hotkey bar. A - +7 Katar Of Raging Blaze S - +8 Triple Critical Jur D - +7 Double Bloody Boned Gladius F - +9 Triple Bloody Boned Main Gauche G - +5 Cranial Buckler Other hotkeys i left empty Note that we're now in BM mode. To use +7 Katar Of Raging Blaze,simply press button A on your keyboard To change from +7 Katar Of Raging Blaze to +8 Triple Critical Jur,just press button S on your keyboard. How about changing from Katar mode to Dual Hand mode?Note that this is the most tricky part for DD sin/sinX to get the right dagger at the correct hand.Most ppl will think,the first hotkey that they press will be automatically put in right hand YOU ARE TOTALLY WRONG!!THE FIRST HOTKEY YOU PRESS WILL BE PUT IN LEFT HAND Lets say you wanna put +7 Double Bloody Boned Gladius on the right hand and +9 Triple Bloody Boned Main Gauche on the left hand.So in order to get this combination. Press the hotkey where the main gauche is located (F button on your keyboard)..this will automatically put main gauche to the Left hand,not Right hand. Then press the hotkey where the Gladius is located (D button on your keyboard)..this will automatically put the gladius to the Right hand. Remember this that once you put a weapon on the right hand,you cant change the right hand equipment using BM mode anymore.The Right hand is fixed and cant be change once you put a weapon in the Right hand.Any weapon hotkeys that you press will only change the Left hand part. Lets say you wanna change the +9 Triple Bloody Boned Main Gauche with +5 Cranial Buckler,just press button G without any worry.Note that even if only Left hand part is equipped while Right hand is empty,pressing the shield hotkey wont make your shield goes to the right hand.SHIELD WILL ALWAYS REMAIN IN THE LEFT HAND PART. Now here comes the big deal..note that once a weapon is equipped on the Right hand,the only thing you can change using BM mode is your Left hand.In the first part i'd shown how to put +7 Double Bloody Boned Gladius on the Right hand part +9 Triple Bloody Boned Main Gauche on the Left hand using BM techniques.But that one is from Katar mode to Dual Hand mode.How bout from Dual Hand mode to another Dual Hand mode?Lets say this time you wanna put +7 Double Bloody Boned Gladius on the Left hand while +9 Triple Bloody Boned Main Gauche on the Right hand. This one is pretty simple actually..although you cant change the Right hand part if you have put a weapon there,but this doesnt mean you cant unequip it. To unequip it,simply click any 2H weapon hotkeys on your hotkey bar..in this case,our 2H weapon will be +7 Katar of Raging Blaze and +8 Triple Critical Jur.Note that equipping the Katar class weapon will make the Dual Hand mode change to Katar mode. Now we're in Katar mode,just repeat back the steps to get from Katar mode to Dual Hand mode back.Note that this time we want the Main Gauche to be put on the Right hand while the Gladius on the Left Hand. In this case,press button D first to equip the +7 Double Bloody Boned Gladius on the Left hand. Then press button F to equip the +9 Triple Bloody Boned Main Gauche on the Right Hand part. From the situation above,it can be concluded like this - Shield will be always put in Left Hand..when replacing a DD mode with Shield mode,only left hand got affected. - From Katar to DD,the first hotkey you press will be automatically put in Left Hand and the second hotkey will auto put in Right Hand.So in this case,if you plan to use HA on LH and Gladius on RH,press HA hotkey first...so that it will autoput HA on the left hand,followed by the Gladius on the Right Hand.. - To change from DD to another DD type (like from SBK to Emp breaking mode) unequip the first mode with a Katar then replace it with the next DD mode.Note that you cant change RH settings once you put a weapon there (unless you open your eqs and double click the right hand weapon part),so you need to unequip both dagger first with a Katar before replacing the Katar with the DD mode that you want. WHAT BOUT OTHER CLASS?IS CHANGING WEAPONS FOR OTHER CLASS IS AS COMPLICATED AS SIN/SINX CLASS? Other class else than sin/sinX class can only use 2 kind of modes which is defending mode (using 1h weapon on the right hand and a Shield on the Left hand) and 2H mode (same like Katar mode,equipping 2H weapons on both hand)..note that changing from 2H mode to Defending mode is easy.Just equip the Shield first before you equip the weapon on the Right Hand.Or you can equip the weapon first (no need to worry for this one..other class else than sin/sinX class when pressing weapon hotkey,the weapon will be automatically put in Right hand.Note that other class can't use Dual Hand style) before equipping the Shield on the Left Hand.Lets take a Paladin class as an example. This the your equipment windows..please take a note on the weapon that have been set its location in the 2nd hotkey bar. Q - +10 Quadruple Liberation Blade W - +7 Triple Hurricane Saber E - Katzbalger (2H weapon) R - +4 Cranial Buckler Other hotkeys i left empty Ok..you all probably gonna think that the first weapon hotkey you press will be automatically put in Right Hand. THIS TIME YOU'RE RIGHT See the first weapon hotkey (button Q) that i press will be automatically put in Right hand and not Left hand like sin/sinX. Then you can equip your shield without any worry. If you wanna change your Right hand weapon while equipping your shield,just press the hotkey with the weapon you desire to use.It will automatically replace the Right hand weapon without changing the Left Hand part,unlike sin/sinX class where you need to unequip both hand first with a 2H weapon before replacing it with the weapon you want. Equpping a 2H weapon?No problem..just press button E on the keyboard and it will replace your current settings with a 2H weapon (in this case,its Katzbalger) From the situation above,it can be concluded like this - For a non sin/sinX class..the first weapon hotkey that you press will be automatically put in Right hand.This is becoz other class cannot use Dual Hand style like sin/sinX class..so all the weapon will be automatically put in Right hand. - You can change your Right hand weapon even when equipping a Shield.This is becoz of the fact that OTHER CLASS CANNOT PUT WEAPON ON LEFT HAND.Only sin/sinX class can put weapon on both Right/Left hand.
